Mice In The Mix: Bye Bye, September and a Little Giveaway!

Hi everyone!? Wow, was that a fast moving month or what?? I know I haven't blogged much, but I have been pretty busy.? The apples were ripe, so we went last weekend to pick some.? I managed to get 3 large bags full; sorry I didn't take a photo of them yet.? I'll save the apple adventure for the next blog!

My big project for September was to make 10 pillowcases for Remember September.? They will go to our soldiers in Afghanistan for Christmas.? I wish I could bring them all home for Christmas, but maybe this small token will put a smile on their faces.

I used up some of my stash and in case you don't know me well enough yet, I do have a thing for red, white and blue.? I can't help it! Army Mom, HOOAH!

?Next up is a small project that I did for the car.? I like to take my hand sewing with me at times and needed a little pouch for my scissors and such.? So here it is.

I had never worked with wool fabric like this before and really enjoyed it!? I like that you don't have to turn the edges of the applique.? Just do a nice blanket stitch and you're done! Blanket stitch has to be my favorite stitch.? It's just fun! This pattern is available for free over at www.allpeoplequilt.com.
So, while I do hand stitching in the car, I like to crochet or knit while I watch television.? Here are two doilies that I finished this month.? The round is my favorite pattern and the square was just something that I made up in my head.? I am trying to use up all of my yarn and thread, then I can buy MORE!

My knitting leaves a lot to be desired, but I do give it an honest try.? Recently I decided that I needed to get a move on and learn to knit the right way.? So I downloaded a tutorial for doing cables and gave it a try.

I am so tickled with myself!? My mother only taught me to knit and pearl.? That's it.? So up until now, everything was flat and not very creative.? I have already downloaded a pattern for a cable scarf that I would like to have for myself.? I'll add it to my list of things to do, but at least I'm not scared anymore of knitting something a bit more complicated.? Good old Internet!? I'd be lost without you!

Now, for a little fun.? Let's see how many people actually read this blog.? I'm having a little giveaway. My potholders have seen better days and when I was at my local quilt shop, I found a pattern that I thought was pretty cute.? Check it out!

You actually tuck your hand up up in the top part of the cupcake!? Too cute!? Well, I have been wanting to have a giveaway forever, so I bought another pattern just for one of you!? This is a Susie C. Shore Design and the great part is that it takes so little fabric and these would make great Christmas presents!?

?So here's how it's going to go.

I will draw names from a bowl at 12:01 am on October 7th. (Don't worry, I'll be still up watching television.)? All you have to do to get your name in the contest is:

  • Become a follower on my site and post a comment telling me that you have done so. If you are already a follower, just leave a comment.
  • To get a second chance, blog about this giveaway on your own site and link to me.? I'll add your name a second time.

Please make sure that I can access your email to let you know if you are the winner. That's pretty much it. This is a small giveaway because I want to keep it open to anywhere in the world.? The first giveaway I ever won was from Australia.? How nice it is to receive something from a far away place??

So, that's about all from here.? I have to turn my attention to my kitchen full of apples now.? More about that next time!

Wishing you all a happy week ahead!

Hugs!

Susan
